As sad as it is to say it, this current
presidential cycle has already been decided by the corporate-political-media complex. Obama will win in convincing fashion and McCain will go down as a faux-maverick shill that bowed down to the president/party that preceded him.
There you have it. The believers on the Left or the Right will argue their cases to reckless abandon. But all an intelligent observer has to do, however, is to analyze the results of such a two party system, and they will come to the conclusion that…
Our two party system has yielded us with a nation that is:
Nearly $10 trillion dollars in debt (which equates to ~$32K for every man, woman, and child in the US), a foreign war in Iraq that has lasted longer than World War II, over 700 military bases in 130 countries, a severe reduction to our civil liberties (Patriot Act & Real ID card), and a loss of Habeas Corpus.
The United States will begin, once again, to see the rise of a viable third party. A third party that, if it does not win elections outright, will, at a minimum, serve to keep the current corrupt parties in check…and will better serve the interests of the people rather than the government. See you in 2012.
