gandalf: Call me crazy, but I think a return to the 1930s style WPA-type programs would work, both as economic stimulus and a badly needed revitalization of our infrastructure.
I have no issue with environmental programs, but I don’t think there is sufficient critical mass in any one area (i.e. solar, wind, photovoltaic, etc) to provide the necessary momentum to effect change.
I think everyone would agree that our roads, bridges and pipeline systems are in dreadful shape and badly in need of repair or replacement.
Marion, I appreciate your responding to my request, but the idea that Obama has the requisite experience to understand which programs work and which don’t is wishful thinking is it not? Also, it’s been correctly pointed out that there isn’t enough money in the till to fund them anyway.
I like the idea that John is truly an east coast leftie playing the agent provocateur. Played that way, it does make sense!
