    How’s it going? Are you resisting the urge to spend to fill some hole in your life?

    I bought $50 worth of tea from dens tea internet tea in Torrance, 15 perc off.

    Barraged with deals via email and text.

    But conditions are sufficient for happiness here and now

    The tea I was going to get anyway, need tea.

    I bought some Goose Island stouts from the annual release. And some gloves to wear on my morning walks now that it’s cold. One more day of Turkey leftovers

    We stayed away from stores completely.

    Went out to dinner which was lovely – very quiet night at the restaurants!

    I went out with no real plans to buy anything other than maybe beer (can usually find a good deal on beer on BF).
    People still seem to have a lot of cash floating around, most everyplace I went was full of people spending like drunken sailors.

    Seems like every year there are fewer and fewer BF deals.

    Only things I bought were a new iPhone and beer.

    In Germany, there is a word “Konsumverzicht” abstinence from consumption.

    Has somewhat of a religious tone to it.

    I find I’m better off if I only buy things after I’ve thought about it say 10 times.

    Then I know I’ll really use the item.

    Now “how to convert my wife to this mindset?”.

    The wrong way is to nag, lecture or preach.

    Maybe leave copies of adbusters in the bathroom?

    a megachurch?! its because of rising shit like that why humanity is going to hell

    first became aware of rev billy when I happened upon one of his revival performances @burningman 20+ years ago

    I remember the fact because it was around the dot com bubble era and seeing a “preacher” telling of excesses was pretty ironic,… then came 9/11 AND a few years after that the sub prime (big short) era, etc., etc., etc.

    another “prophet” I think people should be aware of happens be in town

    AND is spreading the word that we’re in for some pretty troubling times ahead (because of politics)
