i think it may be a new young person thing. internet type name, v. something inspired by big concrete pillars and stone carvings, like J.P. Morgan etc.
I am a millennial by most definitions (born 1981). It doesn’t appeal to me.
Retro everything is in for us early millennials. Amalgamated is a good word that doesn’t get used in corporate names like it used to.
If you want to see some interesting items, search ebay clothing for “vintage” and “deadstock” which are 20+ year old new unopened items. I just got a Sears polo shirt from the 1970s with the original price tag on it. It’s like a time machine, and it fits great. I learned the hard way about vanity sizing however. In the 60s and 70s size 34 literally means 34 inch waist.
1981. excellent year. I graduated high school that year. I recall babies being wheeled arounda nd being completely uninterested in them.
i was thinking it was similar to the bank, SOFI.COM, other goofy website names. ebay, for one.
Mine also. Heading back in October for 40th reunion being organized on FB right now. Graduated with 850 kids and our graduation cermony went down in the annals of history. Drinking age was still 18 back then. People openly drinking during the ceremony, dancing, taking off gowns with not much on underneath. Everyone got bored and walked out during the valedictorians speech. School vowed never again and put heavy security on the following year. Good times…
Semi-related utility PSA: San Diego now lets you pay your water bill with no surcharge by credit card. That’s $12 a year in cash back rewards for me. Oh yeah!
At your billing rate you broke even on that post 😉
I am $10.83 per minute, but I both read and type really fast.
