Looking accounts across the board, and even in my non-so-aggressive accounts, it’s looking like returns this year alone are around 10%-12%.
For those of you that maintain an active 401k account, IRA account, passive investment account that make regular weekly/monthly drip drip drip contributions, what do you guys plan on doing?
1. Stay the course and just continue to drip into the funds.
2. Rebalance (if so, into wha?)?
3. Go cash (this seems like a losing strategy)?
Right now I’m split about 60/40% between domestic equity and international equity through index funds on those accounts that are suppose to be passive.
My active account has been “inactive”, mostly half cash and half random things…
Thinking maybe going more cash and using it to payoff my only mortgage with a $65k balance on one rental. It’s 4.25%, and what I don’t pay to the bank, I can keep. I didn’t think the markets would have done as well as they did for so long….And it would be nice to have 90% of that rent as income, so I have the option of working less if I wanted to in the future.
If you can use the money you made to pay off a loan — and not be beholden to anyone and collect rent money without paying a mortgage, go for it. You can always finance the property again later.
BTW – if you look at a graph of the gains since Nov 2016, the curve is flattening. People expected great things of Donnieboy, but his actual batting average is very low.
