I actually have two of them, but only want to sell one.

The first 100oz silver bar is a Johnson Matthey (2nd best brand name next to #1 Engelhard) that has some pretty pink toning on it (this is considered a good thing, but you can easily remove it with baking soda if you want it super shiny).

I want to sell for 30c over spot price which would currently put it at $1785.

The second is a “US Assay Office San Francisco 1981” item. This came from the old US Strategic Silver Stockpile that was sold off to stop the Hunt Brothers from cornering the market 35 years ago.

It is a collector’s item because of its age and history, so has a higher premium, usually about $1.50-$1.75, but I would sell for 1.10 over spot, so $1855. (Other U.S. Assay Office items can have really huge premiums, sometimes double or triple the spot price, but this particular one does not)

The US Stockpile this was minted from is actually from the 1870-1890 period when the US government purchased silver above the market price from Western US mines as part of a compromise to silver interests when we moved from the silver to a gold standard.

It is risky buying/selling silver online and then mailing, especially in this quantity, and dealers charge a markup that gets pretty high when you are talking about 100oz transactions.

In other words shipping cost, risk, and insuring the package can kill the deal, leaving private buyers and sellers at the mercy of places with high overhead stores.

So I thought maybe some people here might want to do an in-person transaction, ideally in the lobby of the Union Bank branch in OB.
