    We live in Carmel Valley where many of the homes have this humungous curved built in BBQ/counter area-which in my opinion is a waste of space! We have a beautiful outdoor space with a pool overlooking a canyon-and I think the space would be better off, if we removed the built in bar area (kept the gas line for a store bought mobile BBQ)-and did a comfy outdoor seating/lounge area. Anyone ever done this? If so, any recommendations on who to hire? I’m sure some have paid money to do what we are thinking of removing-but I just don’t get wasting all that space. Thanks in advanve for your opinions/thoughts:)

    Sounds bad for resale value. Living there forever?

    I suggest turning off the gas line to be safe, then using a sledge hammer. When finished, have a plumber come and redo the gas line to the new BBQ.

    Slowly dispose of the debris in your garbage can every week, or else bury it.

    Is the bar made of poured concrete, or something easier to remove?

    Cap the gas line, reroute it as needed after demo is complete, then install something like a gas outlet box to connect the BBQ.

    Put it on craigslist or post pics and see if any one wants it. Mt wife wants something like that and even though we have the space I’m not sure, I like the nice barbecue we have that is portable (although not really portable).
