Cops have always been this way and much worse. We now have the technology to record their actions.

Exactly.
Modern video technology has dispelled the “few bad apples” myth. It is now obvious that many cops are outright criminals, and nearly all of them are complicit. At best there is a minority of “good apples” who are helpless because they fear for their life.
The problem won’t go away until cops start doing time. The good-ol-boy network of cops and prosecutors must be broken and the culture of “paid vacation while we investigate ourselves” must end.

Im wondering if the overall toxicity of our society has just screwed with everyone’s essential humors such that we are all as a nation fat, sad, and wild. that donald trump is leading in the polls seems to be some sort of indicator of something. it correlates with cop misbehavior, i bet.
i like cops generally. really i do. i think the entitled, freedomloving, rights spouting masses come up against scared cops who require fast submission, and we end up with people who both think they have not stepped to o far out of line.
it’s not just that cops are out of control. we are all out of control. the climate is out of control. these may be end times…

As a defense atty, have you crossed paths with Baranic’s cop defense crew?
Just curious.August 8, 2015 at 1:44 PM #788550paramountParticipantA recent case from Rohnert Park, it seems the US Constitution is all but dead:
August 8, 2015 at 2:27 PM #788551moneymakerParticipantSaw a policeman just the other day who seemed to be harassing a homeless person at a freeway off ramp. I really wish I had time to stick around and observe as I’m pretty confident that he was not going to be arrested, just harassed.
August 8, 2015 at 5:04 PM #788554paramountParticipantSome data to consider:
*In Ferguson, as of Dec 31, 2014 approx. 75% of the towns residents had outstanding arrest warrants
*Nearly 80% of the arrest warrants were for minor traffic offenses.
*Approx 6% of the arrests occured when residents filed complaints against the police -> many arrested for disrespecting the police.
“It’s not the federal government but the local police department that has come to pacify the populace and nullify certain inconvenient Constitutional guarantees. It’s not internationalist coastal elites, but authority-worshipping middle Americans who are marching down the streets with rifles in hand. Friends, neighbors, patriots. “Good people,” LaPierre calls them, along with Rand Paul. When you see them coming, these good people bearing arms, don’t shoot—run.”

Don’t think some dickhead from Rodent Park (yes adjacent to my hometown) is indicative of the constitution being destroyed.
Its indicative of a lot of very unprofessional conduct by small-town guys not used to dealing with camera phones.
As an FYI, this is less than 5 miles from where the Sonoma deputy killed a 13 year old with a bb gun.

Ironically, I am fairly certain this RP cop is the father of one of my friends growing up.
