Don’t know about the housing market but paying 50x earnings and 4x sales for a mature low margin company that’s been growing about 5% per year is crazy. That kind of M&A deal just screams humongous bubble to me. I haven’t seen crazy shit like that since 1999-2000.

There’s at most 400 people left in the SD location. Not gonna make a dent in housing….Closer to 300 if you count the ones that already were let go after they stopped the LTE business and the rest that went to Intel, and got close to 30-40%+ pay increases if accurate, because of the connectivity know how…Just saying….
Sorry, Mr. Schadenfreude It’s not going to make that 50% correction in housing that you want…again…
May 27, 2015 at 3:30 PM #786700spdrunParticipantOf course it won’t … but a more generalized “revaluation” as happened in 2000 to 2001 would be an interesting investment opportunity. Whether in stocks or in housing, it will for sure be interesting…
Mr. Schadenfreude. I like that π

The sad part is, you really aren’t better off being Mr. Schadenfreude, despite what you think, because this isn’t a zero-sum game, unlike what you think. How many SD condos do you have again, after all those years during the RE crash?
May 27, 2015 at 3:38 PM #786705spdrunParticipantNot enough. Here’s to the next recession! I didn’t take good enough advantage of the last one, so here’s to the next!

Not enough, or not able? π
May 27, 2015 at 3:40 PM #786707spdrunParticipantWell, now I’m able and willing to take advantage — it’s only a question of testicular fortitude when the next beautiful opportunity comes. Here’s to 2001, 2008, and ???!

Sure….If you say so….

May 27, 2015 at 4:05 PM #786714spdrunParticipantStocks did, and that too is an opportunity. “Buy when blood is running in the street” doesn’t imply the street will always be the same.

Sure, if you say so…
Weren’t you the one still thinking stock was going to fall 50+% beginning of last year?
How many times have you actually been accurate in your predictions? π
May 27, 2015 at 4:13 PM #786717spdrunParticipantIf you’re implying that there will never be another recession/correction, history is NOT on your side. Longest without a recession, ever, in US history has been 10 years, and we’re on year 6 right now. Average is much shorter.
Remember the people (most people) who were saying that we’ll never see $50/bbl oil again last year? π

I’m not implying their won’t be a correction. I’m implying you won’t be able to take advantage of such downturns to the extent you are boasting about. At least, not based on your previous track record. Because if you were able to, you would have already done so in the past, instead of just talking about it it… Just like cyclical markets, no, this time it won’t be different…. π
If you really are so confident in your assessment, you would be throwing the book at VIX and shorting the market, right now…
