We are looking to remodel our bathrooms and have our showers re-tiled, sink counter tops installed, and floors tiled. One of the contractors we’re considering only has a C-54 Ceramic and Mosaic Tile license here in California. Would there be any issues with having them tile our bathroom floors, or would be need to find someone that has a C-15 Flooring and Floor Covering license?
We’ve used this contractor before to install granite counter tops and tile back splash in our kitchen, and we were happy with the work. It would be convenient to have one contractor do all the tile work in the bathroom, but if tiling the floor isn’t in their scope of work, we don’t want to have to worry about any liability issues in the future.
If they’re competent to go so, who gives a aerial wank what the nanny state says? Talk about retarded bureaucracy run amuck. Liability? Who’s suing whom?
If you’re paranoid, just have them buy 10% extra tile so you can fix it if anything cracks in future.
I see it’s an issue in CA, but in NJ and NY, no such thing is needed. When my family needed a bathroom floor redone, I hired a friend’s brother who started a tiling business out of high school. He did fine.
