Although I’m a Porsche guy, that does look tempting.
August 22, 2014 at 7:05 PM #777553zkParticipant650 hp. Love it. Not sure I like the styling, either. But 650hp is fantastic.
Love the Challenger Hellcat, too. Looks great, sounds great, runs the quarter mile in 11.2 bone stock. Throw drag radials on it, and it runs 10.8.
10.8! It’s outrageous, egregious, preposterous.

August 22, 2014 at 8:22 PM #777555anParticipantOne of the few American cars I would consider owning. You can either get this or a base Porsche with 300HP less. I choose this :-).
August 22, 2014 at 10:04 PM #777556spdrunParticipantI choose a NA Miata for $3000 and a down payment on something more profitable.
Honestly, I like fun cars. I couldn’t care less about HP — handling is what matters to me. If I want to go fast, I’ll do so on two wheels.

I want to know how this will do around the track….Basically, this is a replacement for not just the Z06 of last generation but the ZR-1 of the last generation… I would be curious how it’s performance around the track will be versus a GT3.
GT3 in the configuration I like is speced around $150k, though it’s a lighter car and one heck of a track dog….but that’s almost 2 Z06’s for the price of 1…. And it might not be a bad thing to have a spare in case you wrap run around a tree…
GWIW the options of a 911s will run the same price as an entire Stingray, which is pretty funny…
Hmmmm…
A super charged miata for auto cross.
An M3 for daily commute…
A Z06 for track days…My kid wouldn’t be going to college if it was up to me…

Different kind of car class.. Miatas are great for autocrosses, not so great for real track days unless you’re running boosted or unless you only race against other miatas.
August 22, 2014 at 10:18 PM #777559spdrunParticipantNah, I want another Miata (or MR2) as a fun daily driver 🙂 As daily as I drive, which isn’t daily, that is. Don’t care about racing beyond the occasional autocross, honestly.
August 23, 2014 at 7:45 AM #777565svelteParticipantafter seeing many C7s on the road, I’ve come to the conclusion it looks superb in dark colors, too busy in light colors. That’s because the dark colors hide the superfluous lines.
In black or gray, it looks amazing. Yellow, not so much.
I haven’t driven one yet but hear it is fantastic. I bought all my 2 seaters a few years back and don’t want to part with the ones I have, so I’m not even gonna tempt myself.
What I’m still in shock over is the Hellcat. Not only are they gonna put that beast engine in the Challenger, but the Charger too! 700 HP in a Charger!!! Dogs and cats, living together, mass hysteria!

I used to like cars… but now they leave me cold. In fact, I wish that Google driverless cars could already take us everywhere.
I think I’m getting old. I feel cold at most things these days.
My goal now is to build a real estate portfolio of condos in different cities so that I can live anywhere I wish. But even that leaves me cold.

It’s true that most “stuff” can eventually leave one “cold,” when the novelty wears off. That’s our human nature, and why every successful company has an ace marketing department to remind us that we need to buy something new in order to transcend this world and feel better. Some of the car ads are extremely amusing on this level.
As far as cars go–I like cars. Some are fun to drive; most have a utilitarian purpose, etc.–but, for me, they don’t feed my soul like family, friends and other things do–nor would I expect them to.

I agree… Lately, I like to visit friends and family and sitting around and talk. Even hanging out with friends at coffee shops is nice.
I have family and friends in NYC. I like cities where it’s easy to meet up friends at the local coffee shop/restaurant. On the West Coast, maybe LA and SF is more like that.
August 25, 2014 at 10:24 AM #777633DoofratParticipantI like the butt of the Corvette better on the Ferrari Italia they stole it from, but nice try none-the-less.

It’s hideous…
That being said… Any street car that can run at the 24 Heure du LeMans…
Is pretty Bad Ass…
I saw the Vette compete there in 2003.
