ParticipantCertainly a better product than Beats, also valued at 3 billion.

I think Apple is trying to buy the ‘name’ and the perceived following, probably from late Gen Y, current Gen X types. Personally I prefer Bose equip. Amar was one really sharp cookie. Vanu is not too bad either.
At $3bil, it way overvalues both of them. Nothing particularly special about putting a vid cam in an environmental enclosure. There is even a undersea pressure rated enclosure for my old Canon S70, which predates GoPro. The S70 can do video as well as pics. Somewhere around here, I have a water resistant competitor to GoPro. No real moat on GoPro.

I think they bought it for the streaming. Product is no better than upper end crap.

The only thing I can think of is the association of ‘Dr Dre’ with ‘Beats Audio’, as well as the ‘cool’ business name ‘Beats’..

ParticipantI’ve heard Apple bought Beats to get a high end “margin” business…
With how overpriced Beats is for what you get, maybe it’s just to make their margin numbers look better…

Beats owns a subscription streaming business similar to spotify.

GuestI’m surprised at the valuation of AirBNB and Uber.

CoronitaParticipantI didn’t originally understand why people like GoPro so much. But I have one for my auto cross duties, and I can see why people use them. Pretty tough little camera…
I think BMW just announced connected drive connectivity with it moving forward….
Well, anyway, I registered for IPO shares just in case I change my mind.. Better to be over prepared versus under prepared….

ParticipantWe, and just about everyone we know who have stakes in the entertainment business, are trying to cash in on “The Need To Be Perpetually Entertained,” Gen Y (around 88M in the US and over 200M in China as examples) entertainment products, and prepping for Gen Z launches, so the confirmation of this level of interest is definitely good news.

Does anyone know historically, how stock available to the public has done?
I know of GOOG doing well, but a lot of others were major flops (like ZNGA).
I have no money so will probably just watch what it does.

My understanding is there will be a limited allocation of shares for those that are interested..
Maximum purchase is $10k..And that might change depending on how much interest there is…
Google’s IPO was a dutch auction…

Welcome to technology/internet bubble 2.0. When it ends is anybody’s guess.

ParticipantHope all is well with everyone. One thing about the GoPro is how easy it is to use. Push a button for video or a picture. For “low-tech” guys like me makes it easy. You can just set the thing on the ground here in Texas and see what you get…….
