June 10, 2012 at 9:46 PM #745418scaredyclassicParticipantThe past was ok , the future is overrated, the present is terrifyingly brilliant.
June 10, 2012 at 9:49 PM #745419scaredyclassicParticipantI don’t want to be old and a bummer. I think I’m going to try to be more like Jack lalanne.

Do you think this exuberance is in part due to the fact that you managed to buy a house that is better than you ever expected, and at a price that was probably better than you expected?
IIRC, some years ago, you had posted a question about one’s expectation for a house going up with every year that you bubble-sit. Maybe the fact that you were able to wait for so long and really define what you were looking for made it possible to take quick action when you found the home that exceeded your wildest expectations at a price you could realistically and responsibly afford.
Does your environment affect how you feel on a daily basis, especially when you’re able to get a home that provides everything you’ve ever wanted for your family?
…or is it the squats and rock throwing? To be sure, physical exercise helps one feel better mentally and emotionally.
Maybe it’s the fact that your kids are growing up to be even better than you had ever hoped.
Also, I think that with age, we really begin to appreciate how fragile life is, and we start to value every second of every day.
Having low expectations is the key to happiness, too, and you are certainly the type of person who tends to lean on the conservative side where expectations are concerned.
Whatever it is, may you have many, many, many more years of this joyful life! I’m so very happy for you!

June 10, 2012 at 11:39 PM #745425sdrealtorParticipantI aspire to be more like the Raphael my daughters Beta fish. I havent changed the water in 5 years yet he persists. Kinda like me.
June 11, 2012 at 11:33 AM #745448CoronitaParticipantHow the heck did you get a betta fish to last more than 5 years?
I’ve gone through 8 of them, and not one lasted more than 1 year.
And I changed the water every week almost….
June 11, 2012 at 12:03 PM #745452sdrealtorParticipantThat must be the problem. Apparentaly they thrive on fish poop and algae. We’ve been trying to take him out for years.
June 11, 2012 at 1:25 PM #745459AnonymousGuestMaybe it’s a zombie.
June 11, 2012 at 1:50 PM #745463CoronitaParticipantWell, ok some disclosures.
First set of fishes I put them in the same tank, without knowing betas are fighting fish.
The second set, got sick, so I stuck a new tank heater in it. The tank heater electrocuted the fish (later the heater was recalled…)
The third set, got sick and I and fed a bunch of antibiotics (which was more than my own antibiotics), and I guess couldn’t take the antibiotics.
The fourth set died of natural causes (with no flu involvement whatsoever)….
June 11, 2012 at 1:53 PM #745466sdrealtorParticipantA heater? Life must be good in Carmel Valley. My poor beta must deal with room temperature what ever that may be.

It’s because I can’t afford AC or turning on the real heaters, dude….Me and family have to wear coats in the winter inside, and can see our CO2 frosted as we exhale..Not like some of you 1%’ers out in Encinitas…
