I love that Show, My Wife thinks I want to go into that biz but no way,
I think the only way these guys are making it is because of the money they get doing the show, I seriously doubt the stuff they are getting out of these lockers is worth anything close to what they are being bid up to on the show.
Seriously I doubt I would bid more than maybe 10 to 100 dollars on any of these lockers, Do you think the guy who left the stuff there did not know what it was worth ? (unless maybe the people died suddenly or something).May 3, 2012 at 7:49 AM #742761AnonymousGuestWhen I lived in LA we had a storage unit in on of those high-rise type warehouses you see in big cites. You could partially see the contents of the other units. It was pretty fascinating, some of the stuff that was in those things…
As for the show, it’s kinda like the point made on another thread: You only see the successes and not the many failures behind them.
They seem to go to a lot of trouble just to scrape up a few hundred dollars.
May 3, 2012 at 10:06 AM #742787sdduuuudeParticipantIt holds a prominent position on the Tivo and has for many months but we have seen every single episode. The Texas version keeps us entertained while waiting for new episodes of the original.
Funny thing is, I showed my wife this stupid show I was sure she would hate, just for a laugh. And she loved it! It’s nice to find something we both like, stupid as it is.
I keep telling her we could get out there to some auctions and be the new Brandi and Jarrod, but she is content to just watch the show.

May 3, 2012 at 11:02 AM #742799briansd1GuestHow do you guys find time to watch TV?
May 3, 2012 at 11:16 AM #742806sdrealtorParticipantDVR. It changes the way you watch. You watch what you want, when you want and as much at a times as you want.

Rather than optimizing my life around making the most money, I have optimized it around making the most time.

Well, we do have off days from piggington occasionally.

I’m behind the times. I still don’t have a DVR.
PBS has more interesting programming that I could ever watch. Still trying to watch the Frontline series on power and money.

http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/pages/frontline/money-power-wall-street/%5B/quote%5DYes, but the reason you are still trying to watch it is because you have to be in front of a TV when it is broadcast. Spend the money at http://www.tivo.com and you will be able to record it when it is on and save the episodes. This way, when you have time to watch, the shows you want to watch will be “on”

May 3, 2012 at 12:48 PM #742824briansd1GuestOk… I will request a DVR for Christmas. But I don’t want Tivo that requires a monthly subscription.

I have never heard of this stuff before so I am not promoting it at all. It was in a storage unit for over 30 years and nobody knows where it came from.
My wife was closing out her Grandma’s storage unit over the weekend and brought me back 3 patches that she thought would be funny to give me because I am part German. I checked them out on the internet:
This is what I got back from a WW II relic expert:
“Everything is authentic.
The tropical eagles about $120 each. Normally you might get a bit more for the whole strip, and it’s a shame to cut them apart, but collectors usually only want one….
(I have 3 in a row)

The Bevo SS rune tab about $500

The Skull tab about $600.
