If yor purchase a renters policy be smart and take 1 hour to put together a contents inventory list. If you ever do have to put a claim in this helps the adjuster get things moving. Additonally I would go ahead and take digital photo’s or a videotape and give a copy to my agents. Again it helps to get things moving and relieves you of the burden if you need to use the policy.
Also know that their are policy limits on certain items. Jewelery is limited so if you ahve a lot see what it costs for a rider. Gun collections, expensive carpets,etc. I might also inquire if the coverage would extend to occurences such as lost luggage if you ar traveling. This hit me as my company covered me in the event of theft but not in the event of a mysterious disappearance.
