This was my friend’s house. It’s upsetting to me to see it discussed here like this. Nuff said, I hope.
Sorry. Of course it has also been upsetting for many of us here to watch speculators bid up the prices of homes using crazy loans and by committing outright fraud on loan applications. How many people LIED on their loan applications? How many hedge funds packaged bogus doo-doo loans as AAA and sold them to pension funds? Twenty years ago these shenanigans would have landed those responsible IN PRISON but now it’s all okay for some reason.
Many financially conservative and responsible people here and in other parts of the country refused to participate in this fraud, they refused to put their family’s finances at risk, so they didn’t buy houses. They have been forced to rent, they have been forced to move more often than they would like, and worst of all, they have had to deal with untold amounts of BS from their friends and relatives about why they are stupid for not buying a house. So we are sorry that your friend is in a tough situation, but please feel the same for us that have had a tough time on the other side of this situation as well. ‘Nuff said.
