Have you decided what you are replacing it with?
I would recommend a sith regeneration chamber.
Those can be pricey though.
When we remodeled, we had a tub replaced. I’ve been looking high and low for that receipt and can’t find it. I think just for the tub and plumbing it was over $1K.
The reason I say that is because it ended up being a royal pain. The drain for the new tub didn’t match the drain location for the old tub, so pipe work had to be done.
When we remodeled downstairs, we had that tub refinished instead. Cost us about $450 (I did find that receipt) and still looks good 4 years later. The finish isn’t as smooth as I would have liked, but no peeling so far. Of course, we don’t use that tub much either.
The cost of the replacement will obviously depend on the type of tub installed. If you were looking for a no-frill basic tub that might be suitable for a DIY project, I can recommend Sterling’s Vikrell bath tub.
The tub costs about $200 at Ferguson’s, and the drain kit ~$30 from HD/Lowes. We replaced two of our tubs. For the first tub, we hired a plumber from Craigslist to redo the drain/p-trap and spent $600. For the second tub we bought materials (<$50) and replaced the old drain/p-trap as a weekend project. Hope this helps.
