API isn’t the end-all/be-all.
Our neighborhood school, Curie, still scores very well. (943 down from 950 last year). Despite this bright and shiny score we’re stilling pulling one son out and moving him to a school that has worse scores, Hawthorne. (826, up from 794 last year).
It’s the teachers and parents that really make the learning experience good or bad.

We just like lists.
Magazines discovered they get a lot more readership when they print lists (the best schools, best places to retire, best cars, most beautiful people, etc…)
