    I’ve been renting the home for 4 years. Last year the owner decided to short sale the property. I try to purchase it but didn’t qualify. I have since then been paying rent.

    My question is, do i have to continue paying rent knowing that he is not paying the bank? We had a discussion where he told me that he could throw me out if I don’t pay. I think is unfair since he’s not making payments? Any advice?

    This question seems to come up every several months. Yes, you have to continue to pay rent. Whether he is behind on his mortgage payments is irrelevant. If you don’t pay, he has every right to evict you.
