So, for those that don’t know, I opened a real estate office a couple of weeks ago in the location of my former office. My previous office went out of business. Probably an insane thing to do in this economy.
Oh well.
I suspect our previous broker shut down because the only real asset a real estate office has is its agents.
They bring in the business and they maintain the good will.
I have to say though, it has been a lot of bs in that dealing with things like leases and internet has taken way more time away from my real estate than I am happy about.
The biggest single concentration of bs has to do with AT&T.
That is one seriously dysfunctional company.
Feb 3rd:
This is the day they state that they connected my phone and internet.
Feb 4th:
The internet guy arrives.
Feb 7th:
I call inquiring what is happening with my phone and fax lines. I am told they will be out in the morning.
Feb 8th: They reschedule to 12pm. Then to 4 pm. Then to 5 pm. Then to 7pm. Then to Wednesday morning.
Feb 9th: they reschedule to 5pm. Then to 7pm. Then to Thursday.
Feb 10th: They call and reschedule to 11am. Then to 1130. Then the guy actually shows up. The phones are able to call and fax by 3pm.
Feb 17th: One of my agents calls me and states that the internet is down. I call to get it dealt with. They scheduled for 2pm. Then for 4pm, then for 430. He was there for 30 minutes (until I had to leave to pick up my toddler) and scheduled to meet me in the morning about 9am.
Feb 18th: He arrived at 930 and was there until about 1pm. Per him, the issue was that there had been a mix up at their office and our internet had been turned off. He told me he spent the entire time on the phone being transferred to the correct person. I believe him.
That evening, after a glass of wine at home, I decide to try calling my office number. It reports an error message. Same for my fax number. Great.
Feb 19th:
Try the numbers again in the morning. Same problem. Yet again, I order repairs for the office.
Feb 21 (today): The tech shows up without calling (luckily, I was present) to fix the problem with receiving calls.
He is on the phone with his switchboard for like 2 hrs. Per him, there was some confusion at the office.
Whatever.
The moral of this story is that I will never, ever, do business with AT&T again. Never.
If your bureaucracy is so insane that your own guys can’t get through it or they lose their job, you need some help.
Seriously, we are now 3 weeks into the billing period and only now have service.
Reorder and start from scratch. DO NOT refrence the current jacked up issues! They want to fix them… Obviously, they cant. Bthe data base is screwed. Order new lines like your a new customer.
The crap that the Gov’t put them through in order to create fair competition is what’s screwing things up. They literall have to talk from 1 dept to the next like they are separate Co with separate data bases for telco dsl Uverse and wireless.
