This thread talked about Mission Hills but I think there was some discussion about Pt Loma.

Lots of old money in Pt Loma. Older homes, with the exception of all the development down in Liberty Station which was built out in the early 2000 timeframe.
We have had discussions about Pt Loma as it pertains to being a good place with regards to raising kids and quality of schools. Not sure if that is important to you or not.
If not lots of good stuff although there have been on again off again issues with fuel leaks and evironmental issues. Also be aware of the flight path from the airport.
Those items not withstanding, Pt Loma is one of those polarizing areas. I think that people really love it, or not so much at all. I have a few friends that have lived there for a long long time and they swear by it. They love their view of the bay and to them it is “classic san diego”. They are empty nesters and it suits their lifestyle very well.

February 16, 2011 at 7:05 PM #667163jstoeszParticipantOnly termites and whores like the custom homes of point loma. Did I mention the amphetamines (but I digress)!
Better off buying in the paradise of carmel valley. Much better value, better schools, and NEW homes!
Leave point loma for the bums and traffic of rosecrans. There is nothing past nimitz…

February 16, 2011 at 8:42 PM #667178jpinpbParticipantjstoesz – only b/c I know you are sarcastic and if I remember right, you like PL. That was a funny post. I’m not sure CA-dreamin will get it.
I think PL is great, especially if you are further away from the flight path. I think there is too much traffic on Rosecrans since they built Liberty Station. I’m not sure of the HOAs and Mello Roos w/Liberty Station, but if you look for those beautiful older homes to buy, you won’t have to worry about HOAs or MR. As far as schools, I think High Tech High is in Point Loma and I think that’s supposed to be a good school.
