A few years ago we put an offer in on a house contingent on inspection. The inspector found some serious problems so we withdrew the offer. Turns out it was a cosmetic flipper trying to make a quick buck off some sucker (luckily not us).
Fast forward to today, and we are receiving spam from various banks about refinancing our property at this address. But of course, it is not our property. It appears as though it ended up going to some sucker many months after we put in and withdrew our offer. I’m starting to get a little suspicious that some sketchy stuff went down with our information after we submitted the offer. Why do banks think we own this property? Did the original seller or my realtor at the time sell our information to some banks? How do I make sure that my name is in no way affiliated with this property? Should I be worried?
