    Well Piggs, it’s been real. Haven’t been as active lately as I basically knew there was no way I’d be able to stay so discussing local housing was one area I decided to cut back on internet time. Plus the guilt of not being a good Pigg financially but my demons were set in place before moving here, and overcoming them just didn’t happen. Since moving out here in 2K5, I just haven’t been able to claw ahead.

    I realize compared to SD Orlando is uhhhh, not as nice. Most likely I’ll be in the Oviedo/Chuluota area. The big debate is of course buy or not buy. I am not expecting to relo until late July or early August, but we’ll see.

    I could go into the myriad of reasons, but the readers digest version… Financially we’ll be better off, we have almost no family visitations out here, no state tax, etc. I still have local resume’s out there, but to date haven’t heard much back. If my socks were knocked off with something local I’d reconsider but I don’t see it happening. Well hitting the MegaMillions jackpot would trigger staying local and just moving family out here to get rid of the travel expense.

    There are many disappointed people in the area because we both work with so many kids (in different ways). However we’ve never really connected with friends out here as compared to the 6 years we spent back in the midwest. At least not at the same level of closeness we had with those friends from our previous location.

    Regarding housing out there until my feet are on the ground I don’t plan to look too seriously. I scan MLS sites and rental sites but much of that could change in the next 3 months. So most research is more theoretical at this point. Although I would assume many of the current homes not selling, would still be available. I don’t plan to live in one of the high crime areas. Having said that, Oviedo while a nice town, is not quite Encinitas/South Carlsbad now is it?

    I started to type out thank you’s to various posters until I realized I highly doubt I’ll leave the site. Piggington is a strong part of the morning and evening routine.

    I am certain friends, neighbors and colleagues are disappointed to see you go. I can appreciate the comment on the level of closeness with people out here. I have been here for nearly 10 years I have finally accepted the fact that there is no way of replicating childhood friendships. If I wasn’t such a stubborn donkey I would have headed back to the east coast years ago.

    Thats the nice thing about the interwebs. You could have moved and we’d never know. As to connecting with friends, in general it gets harder as you get older. I have the same problem and I’m a lifer here (Piggington and SD.)

    Its sad to see someone that you knew in the digital world give up the ghost, but as long as you’ll be happy I can wish you farewell with genuine bonhomie.

    My own personal memories of Orlando are such that I wouldn’t sentence you to parole there, but people do funny things.

    Right there with you man. Even though we moved to Maryland almost a year ago now, I still check this site almost every day. Don’t post as much, as I don’t really follow SD real estate any more, but there are too many good minds and writers here. Plus the links to the other economic sites are fantastic.
