This is just a warning to anyone who might be pursuing a short sale with Bank of America. My wife and I were nearing the end of the short sale process when BofA decided to offer the seller a loan modification. We had already done all our inspections (about $900 worth) and were waiting for the third and final stage of bank approval. Then we found out that the sellers were backing out because BofA sent them a letter requesting they apply for a modification.
I believe that things happen for a reason. So I guess I will just sit back for awhile now and see what happens with the market.
Oh and as soon as I get around to it I am closing my accounts with BofA. Anyone have any suggestions on a good bank to use for someone that makes international transfers?

I guess I am intrigued by this. Not the part about the lender offering a mod, but why did you do your inspections before the short sale was approved by the lender. Sometimes (but not always) it is a good idea to wait until all the lenders have sent an approval letter so things like this do not happen to buyers.
