Americans do not support each other’s jobs or can’t seem to understand a connection between the other guy’s job and thier job. There is just too little support for American manufacturing (real jobs).
I’ve posted before of the many, many automotive jobs lost recently right here in SoCal.

If unions would take 401k plans like the rest of us, maybe they wouldn’t be bankrupting American companies.
Toyota and Honda have manufacturing plants here (mostly in the South), and are actually doing pretty well at it.
