Now, after the BoA acquisition what is the state of this bank? I have a ton of cash with this bank and even though it is under the FDIC limit I must admit I do not know how the FDIC claims process works…will it takes 6 months to get my money or will I get it in 2 days? Can they freeze FDIC payouts if there is some litigation? Do they wait until they liquidate all assets?
I too have a deposit at Countrywide (below FDIC limit) but I am not worried. When they close down (which I think is very probable), FDIC will mail me a check. It may take a couple of days, but I can live with that. BTW, they are giving a good rate on deposits and I like them! Same thing with GMAC Bank; likely to close down but good rates now.
