NO ONE IS “FINANCIALLY INDEPENDENT” we are all dependent on the us dollar being worth something. and that is far from a sure thing. there is an illusion of financial independence, but there’s really very very very few people whoa re actually “set”. everyone else is in varying states of denial and dependence on the current state of various markets. the only real independence for a working dude or dudette is to keep yourself as mentally and physically healthy as possible and to keep working. to count on nay investment; housing, which could be flat or falling till you die; or stocks, ditto; or really any of the things we have previously assessed as retainers of wealth, is truly not sure thing.
