Hablamos Español!
Puerto Vallarta is getting really developed now too. Tons and tons of condos and they cost as much as the ones do here for the most part. $300K seems to be the going price for a nice 1/1.
Mexico’s relationship with the environment is different than ours — better in some ways, worse in others. All wildlife in Mexico is protected, so that’s good. But there is definitely more trash on the streets than here, so that’s bad.
The NAU is coming and we will all be one big happy family soon. The differences between Mexico and the US are much less stark than they were 20 years ago. In another 20 years they will be even less noticeable.

April 26, 2008 at 12:25 PM #195014afx114ParticipantThe beautiful coastline between Tijuana and Ensenada is going through the same. Rows and rows and miles and miles of development. When I first started going down there years ago I always told myself, “I can’t believe this beautiful coastline is still undeveloped” and now I wish that it wasn’t.

April 26, 2008 at 3:53 PM #194982bubble_contagionParticipant“I sincerely hope the Mexican government imposes restrictions on the environment.”
LOL….There may be laws to protect the environment but no enforcement.
I don’t know if you speak Spanish but just to give you an example of what goes on down there I have posted the article below. It is from this week and explains how 14,500 condos have been built illegally without permits in just one neighborhood in Mexico City. This is done with bribes at all levels of government. I can assure you construction on both Mexican coasts is going completely unsupervised.
