    I will be relocating to San Diego in April. I have been exploring listings a bit, and there seems to be some good prices in Mira Mesa.

    What are the positives and negatives on Mira Mesa?

    Any areas to stay away from?

    That summary does not point to anything really negative. so, are there any areas I should avoid looking at houses in? Or any negatives not noted in the wiki article?

    I will say the same thing to you that I say to anyone and everyone locating or relocating to San Diego, that is, come and rent. If you like, rent in Mira Mesa for 6 months, that would give you a great way to learn about the area. Have you picked up an engineering job in the Sorrento Valley? Just a wild guess… anyways there are a couple of regulars who post here that live in Mira Mesa or have lived in Mira Mesa, Asianautica and Nostradamus, both good posters. I find that most of the negative postings about Mira Mesa comes from people who do not live there. I am not saying they are right or wrong but I have also lived in Mira Mesa, I rented for about 15 months from late 05 to early 07 and I had no problems there. I am not so sure it is fair to project my taste on others. Would I like Solana Beach? Yeah… do I have to settle for Scripps? Most likely yeah… Anyways again, I would urge you to try renting for a little while. What could it hurt? It is not like the housing market will run away on you or anything.
