Feel better! Is it flu or cold?
To answer your question, for me it totally depends upon the floorplan. I like the idea of a guest room/bath on the main floor, with “private areas” contained to the second floor. Then, houseguests have no reason to wander into your bedroom.
However, I’ve seen some single story floorplans that can be nice, too.
Are you looking at single story places that you like?
