    For anyone wanting to hear a view of CA’s housing price future, Bruce Norris will be speaking at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, at the Scottish Rite auditorium off I-8.
    Bruce Norris famously predicted a huge runup in CA housing prices in about 1998, then turned pessimistic about 2005 (I believe). I attended his talk to the same group, San Diego Creative Investor’s Association (SDCIA.com) last winter and the was impressive–good data, accurate history, plenty of slings and arrows for the developers, real estate industry, lenders.
    Above all, he reeled off reason after reason why house prices will fall, creating a self-reinforcing downward spiral. I’m surprised this forum has had no comments about him. Am also surprised I never hear him quoted in news items alongside such luminaries as Christopher Thornberg. If anyone has comments or corrections of my take of Bruce Norris, please weigh in.
    BTW, I have no agenda here, am not a member of SDCIA, and frankly view them as a lot of knife-catchers and industry vendors who pitch to them. But Mr. Norris’ talk last winter was cathartic for me, so am alerting others to this event. Cost is $15, a lot of pre-talk stuff goes on beforehand which is quite annoying. Be warned.     I have heard Bruce speak as well… I have posted before very sparingly on SDCIA and used to be alot more involved there.

    Kind of a different world over there.

    I do echo your sentiments on Bruce. For 15 bucks it is a pretty good deal but you may indeed find yourself surrounded by a few realtors, brokers, (the SDCIA crowd)etc…

    I have heard Bruce speak as well… I have posted before very sparingly on SDCIA and used to be alot more involved there.

    Kind of a different world over there.

    I do echo your sentiments on Bruce. For 15 bucks it is a pretty good deal but you may indeed find yourself surrounded by a few realtors, brokers, (the SDCIA crowd)etc…

    I’d forgotten about Bruce Norris, BobS. Prompted by your post here, I just listened to his KTIE interviews with a (good solid) broker specializing in REOs, and with Chris Thornberg. Bruce (and his interviewees) seem smart and straightforward. I live in OC, so it’s too far for me to go, but it’s almost tempting enough to drive down.

    I’d forgotten about Bruce Norris, BobS. Prompted by your post here, I just listened to his KTIE interviews with a (good solid) broker specializing in REOs, and with Chris Thornberg. Bruce (and his interviewees) seem smart and straightforward. I live in OC, so it’s too far for me to go, but it’s almost tempting enough to drive down.
