Most of us had to pass similar tests in high school, and like naturalized citizens we are free to brain-dump everything the minute the test is over. God bless America!
Hey, I was naturalized in 1999 and I still only missed one. I only missed that cuz I didn’t read whole the question. I will admit to guessing (correctly) on one though.
The whole naturalization proccess is a joke. Like getting a loan 2 years ago if you could fog a mirror you can get your citizenship. It really should be much harder than it is. There should be a requirement to read, write and speak the language at something more than a basic level. Just think how much money and paper we would save not having to print everything in English, Spanish, and is some cases Chinese or Korean.
I’m a 25 year old, registered to vote, native citizen. I got 11 out of 12- not too shabby then, eh? Sorry meadandale, but I had to stick up for myself. 🙂
The questions could be re-designed to measure the knowledge of the process..not just dates and numbers.
I would guess that many people who graduate from college don’t have basic knowledge.
Ie: What was D-Day and Normandy?
or
What causes the ocean tides?
or
What is the Magna Carta?
I have met college grads who would not be able to answer these questions.
Only 11 out of 12 scored as correct (27 amendments, not 29).
However, the answer to test question #4 is wrong. One must PAY the IRS by April 15th, but (with extension) tax forms don’t have to be FILED until Sept 15 or Oct 15 — depending upon whether it’s personal or corporate.
Does that make me smarter or dumber than the LA Times?
10 out of 12 and I am not a citizen or have attended a US school. I did, however, read the books about the US and it’s history given for free at American embassies.
