Here’s my 2 cents. I personally would never live in a community with HOA’s ever again. When I had a condo in Carmel Valley the association towed my car away for no reason (they had to pay me back) and we were admonished for adding a quart of oil, and generally persecuted because those in power did not like our family.

It caused no end of problems, and I swore never to enter such an arrangement or area again. Aside from that, the very thought of living in the sort of neighborhoods where HOAs exist sends shivers down my spine.

Alex – it was a condo association. And, yes I guess you could say they were bigots. I don’t care to be ruled by anyone. How about you?August 27, 2007 at 7:52 AM #81447eccen in escParticipanteccen in esc

But I also don’t like someone telling me what to do, especially when I drop a few hundred thousand or more on a home. I just don’t like the idea of an area where you have 5 motorhomes parked along the street. The jackass that leaves their 40 foot racing boat parked in the end of a cul de sac or the home that uses the garage as a storage bin and parks their 5 cars outside. But I don’t like the idea of having someone approve of a specific plant that I want to put outside or tell me how my garden is supposed to look. There needs to be an equilibrium and with HOAs it seems you either get it good or bad.
