Participant
Yesterday, I was thankful to myself for all that I achieved in 2017. I’m feeling good about 2018.
You couldn’t have achieved any of it without random chance.

Thanks, random chance!

It’s hard to tell a side splitting G-rated joke. It takes intelligence and wit. That is in short supply. Billy Crystal did a good job of it. So did Bob Newhart.
Agree. And Brian Regan.

other comedians suck so bad compared to louie…
Concur.
His comedy really cuts through the bs while at the same time being extraordinarily funny. He’s my favorite.
If anyone can find a way forward from this that’s funny, it’s him.

ParticipantHere’s some good news: /sarcasm
Let’s be clear on what’s happening in our politics right now. President Trump and his media allies are currently creating a vast, multi-tentacled, largely-fictional alternate media reality that casts large swaths of our government as irredeemably corrupt — with the explicitly declared purpose of laying the rationale for Trump to pardon his close associates or shut down the Russia probe, should he deem either necessary.
This guy also gets it:

I cannot yet see how we, as a country, will find a way out of this pit of lies.
I have said that exact same thing. Also:
I don’t see how con man don gets away with ruining our country without all these lies being told on his behalf. I don’t see how republicans hold on to power without all of these lies. I don’t see how joe redneck votes republican if he knows what republicans are actually doing to him and to his country.

I think that you’re conflating the rhetoric around Trump (propaganda pushed by those who favor neo-liberal policies) with the reason that many people voted for him.
The rhetoric around con man don is propaganda pushed by those who favor neo-liberal policies?
Wow. What a ridiculous leap that is.
The rhetoric around con man don is that we’ve elected a lying, ignorant, unstable, misogynist, lazy, vindictive, childish, petty, petulant, thin-skinned, belligerent loser to the highest office in the land. Do you disagree with any of those adjectives? If so, which ones and why? If not, do you favor neo-liberal policies? If you don’t disagree with any of those adjectives and you simultaneously don’t engage in the “rhetoric around trump,” do you keep your knowledge of his shortcomings to yourself because you favor other-than-neo-liberal policies?
Is it your opinion that those who can see con man don’s horrific traits but don’t favor neo-liberal policies are just keeping their mouths shut about his traits? Is it your opinion that anybody who favors neo-liberal policies only mentions trump’s shortcomings as propaganda to further their cause and not because they’re concerned that we’ve put such a person in office?

ParticipantI’ll keep saying it until it’s too late:
As long as so many Americans get their “news” from propaganda outlets, nothing will get better. It will only get worse.
I’d like to do something instead of saying something, but I honestly don’t know what I can do. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Participant
John McCain…said it well
In the not-too-distant future, people will look back at the horror that was the trump presidency and wonder who all these cowards were in congress who weren’t saying what McCain said. Who knew exactly what was happening but who were too craven to stand up to it. God, I hope they get what’s coming to them.

There is overwhelming proof that Obama hates America:

Wow. For something as straightforward as a Google search to turn up that much comedy is pretty amazing.

Participant
Many people who partake of right-wing media think that Obama hates America.
Here’s a perfect example of how an outrageously ridiculous idea can become quite widely accepted among manipulated consumers of right-wing media.
I defy anyone to tell me why they think Obama hates America (in a way that I can’t easily rip to shreds).
Or, EconProf or sdduuuude, tell me how such an idea can become so widespread without any supporting evidence unless people have been manipulated.
zk
Participant
You have just destroyed the theme of this overlong, tiresome thread.
The Right-Wing media are vastly outnumbered by the Left-Wing media. There is Fox News vs. CNN, MSNBC, ABC, CBS, PBS, etc., etc.
Big city newspapers are overwhelmingly left-of-center.
You are correct that the now left-leaning Time magazine was once solidly conservative. What does that tell you?
Well, first of all, EconProf, you’ve left out Breitbart, Drudge Report, Newsmax, Washington Times, National Review, Weekly Standard, most of talk radio, etc.
Second, you seem to equate CBS, ABC, etc with Fox. Such that you can find bias on outlets such as CBS and ABC, it is dwarfed by the bias at Fox.
sdduuuude didn’t answer, and I’m really curious why so many people are unhappy with the direction the country took under Obama, so I’ll ask you. (I’m assuming that, like sdduuuude, that you are not happy with the direction that the country took under Obama. If that’s not correct, then disregard this question.) What is it that Obama did as president that you didn’t like? Many people who partake of right-wing media think that Obama hates America. Do you share that view?

ParticipantI could be wrong, but it was always my understanding that you could specify the buyer’s agent’s commission in your listing. You can make it whatever you want.
