“Let’s not forget that with the elderly population growing rapidly, even if cost increases for each beneficiary can be contained, Medicare would still claim a rising share of the American economy.”
VeritasParticipantWell done. I think you discovered a language they understood.
VeritasParticipantWorks for me, especially if the media is allowed to embed in this war. I want to know when the nukes are headed this way.
VeritasParticipant“The number of people who commit suicide in the U.S. has drastically increased while deaths from car accidents have dropped, making suicide the leading cause of injury death.”
They cannot afford the gas: “When Barack Obama took over in 2009 gas cost an average of $1.85 per gallon. Now that average cost is $3.87 per gallon!”

How dare he be so generous, especially when it makes Obama look cheap. What a jerk. “That’s nearly twice the rate of President Obama, who according to his tax returns from 2000 through 2011 donated just less than 7 percent of his adjusted gross income to charities.”
VeritasParticipantMore news:
Romney doubles charitable giving-
VeritasParticipant
Now – can you name civil rights legislation that they initiated after 1960 (52 years ago)?
Not just supported, but initiated?
Try this one on for size svelte:
“The Republican Party included support of the ERA in its platform beginning in 1940, renewing the plank every four years until 1980.[8] The ERA was strongly opposed by the American Federation of Labor and other labor unions, who feared the amendment would invalidate protective labor legislation for women. ERA was also opposed by Eleanor Roosevelt and most New Dealers, who either contended that women needed government protection, that men did not or otherwise did not want the only labor protections abolished before they could be extended to men as well, as it would likely be a blow to unions and the movement for labor laws. The amendment was opposed by most northern Democrats, who aligned themselves with the anti-ERA labor unions but the ERA was supported by southern Democrats and almost all Republicans.”Frum, David (2000). How We Got Here: The ’70s. New York, New York: Basic Books. pp. 245–248. ISBN 0-465-04195-7
It will probably not satisfy you, but it is certainly more than the Dems. did for women. Interesting the strange bedfellows of the Dem. Party.
VeritasParticipantBump!

In the private sector, the person would be recorded doing something he said he could not do, based on his “disability”. There are many businesses dedicated to this.
June 12, 2012 at 3:45 PM in reply to: My next door neighbor was a cop, still under 60, been retired for more than 5 yrs #745547VeritasParticipantBetween the DROP, pension spiking (which the County turned a blind eye to for years) and fake work comp retirements, the tax payers are getting hosed because of this kind of cronyism. My favorite is the work comp fakers who retire from one department only to go do the same work for another department. Carpal tunnel syndrome is a great example of this kind of employee scam. The Chief’s disease is another one. Even fire chiefs get in on this act.
… “a 2004 investigative report by the Sacramento Bee found that among retired members of the California Highway Patrol, 66% of the rank and file officers, and 82% of the chiefs retired with service disabilities. Similarly, a 2006 investigative report by the San Jose Mercury found that two-thirds of San Jose Firefighters retired with service disabilities.”

No one is saying the work is easy and that the employees in high risk careers should not be fairly compensated, but the City Council and the Board of Supervisors should ensure that the tax payers are not being victimized by the Unions and Associations that represent the employees, lest the voters lose faith in their ability to do the job responsibly and fairly.
VeritasParticipant“The 411,618 square foot Solyndra building in Fremont, CA, has just been put the market, thus bringing the troubled business, which has dogged the Obama administration for months, closer to its final end. The price of the Fremont Solyndra building has not yet been listed.”

VeritasParticipantMaybe he likes to do his own taxes. Some people do. Not me, but I know other people who prefer to do their own taxes. I am sure flu is up on his tax stuff if anyone is.
