Participant

Jp: If Penelope Cruz AND Halle Berry showed up to rent my place, I’d PAY THEM to live there!
LOL. You know what I mean. There’s more to race here. Not just attractive women. If someone clean-cut that looked like Will Smith that worked at a stock brokerage company wanted to rent a room, you wouldn’t b/c of his race?
Too many factors to consider.
I don’t like agreeing with either of you but I do.
I think JP makes my point rather well in that if you someone appears gainfully employed and together (and, of course, passes all the various pre-quals) ethnic/racial origin really does not make a relevant consideration.
I think Allan makes a good point in that race is often a shorthand for class.
I think that is the real prejudice.
Its just that Americans don’t believe in class and do believe in race.
As a white broker, I know I am just a temporarily embarrassed millionaire.
Though, sometimes “temporarily” feels more like “chronically”.urbanrealtor
ParticipantI agree with getting it tested by a reputable company and then presenting the owner with those tests.
Or having them pay for it.
You don’t want them pulling this shit on anyone else.

Be careful.
There are a lot of inspectors who also do the work.
Thats a conflict of interest.
They show up offer a “free” inspection.
