I don’t really care what the arguments for or against are, I have my own theory. I like my guns, I’m safe and experienced with them. I enjoy my right to have them, but I am not comfortable with other people’s rights to have them. 75% of the people I know shouldn’t be alowed to have them. 25% of the people I know should be allowed to have them. The problem is that the 25% I deem qualified for the most part don’t have them and those that do are in the 75% I object to.
Until someone comes up with a proposal that says I get to keep mine and I get to decide who all the other gun owners are, mark me down for “undecided.”

temeculaguyParticipantWhile I love the food talk, I read the original poster and chuckled about Mervyn’s being used as an economic barometer.
Mervyn’s went under during the good part of economy. The economy didn’t kill mervyn’s, I think Kohl’s and a few others did. In my neck of the woods, they closed the mervyn’s in like 2006 or earlier.
The I read the wikipedia page http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mervyns They shut down their last stores in Oregon and Washington in early 2007, went bankrupt in July of 2008.
No matter what the economy is doing, some companies go under for a variety of reasons that have nothing to do with the economy and everything to with how they do business or their business model. Sometimes chains die slow, maybe the poway mervyns lasted longer than most so it looks like it was economy, but it wasn’t. And Borders, well Amazon is doing well, I think the customer habits killed borders, just like blockbuster video lost to digital delivery and netflix.
The economy may still suck, but those examples don’t alarm me.

temeculaguyParticipant
I guess it takes a discussion on porn to get TG out of the shadows these days.
paramount, it was random, I’ve been away for a while, came to read some private messages and browsed a little, then I saw my name. Of course I jumped in.
Truth be told, I joke about, it’s fun, but I’m no expert on the subject, nor am I a puritan. But man, to see BG’s remarks about it being an addiction and insidious, lighten up babe. People get addicted to all kinds of things but then there are many more who don’t. Alcohol, food, video games, gambling, sex, even excericise can end up destructive but for the vast majority of folks, it’s just something they casually enjoy. I’m a fan of them all and addicted to none, I feel bad for people who get taken over by these things, they never really get to enjoy them.
I get a kick of of these sweeping statements, recalcitrant? I had to look that up (resisting authority or control, not obediant or compliant) which is actually is a polular genre of porn, not really my thing, but I’m willing to learn new things I guess.
You know what the suburban moms go to instead of tupperware parties? They go to these passion parties or similar ones and among the toys and lingerie, they sell mainstream porn. I think that’s awesome. Couples watch these together, even try to play along, or so I’m told. Outfreakingstanding! Guys don’t call that guy an addict, we call him a lucky bastard and we also call him faithful.
But BG, please don’t quote my entire post, highlight things you want to address and insert rubuttals to each. This is not a debate, I totally respect your beliefs, you get to have them. This is like arguing religion, it doesn’t work. I also respect anything two or more consenting adults want to do or not do. I’ve been called old fasioned and i’ve been called a hedonist, it’s all relative based on who you are talking to.

temeculaguyParticipant
Then there’s TG’s favorite…porn! ;)
Billion dollar industy, I hardly think it’s just me, I’m just the only one that admits it. It’s not a hobby unless you want to classify brushing your teeth as a hobby. I will wager that average man spends more time looking at naked ladies than he does brusing his teeth. Just accept us, were broken, we cant help it.
My actual hobbies are
1. NBA (of course next year is in jeapordy)
2. NFL (ditto)
3. Wine (drinking it and making it)
4. Home stuff, (I finished installing wood floors dwonstairs and it was fun, took months, I have some great tools now, it’s a hobby, I think a patio cover is next, once you get turned on my table saws and mitre saws, it’s a hobby)
5. GolfBut your friend won’t be cured by suggestions, more than likely something else is wrong. We all question our existence at one time or another and it’s rarely because we haven’t been exposed to enough activities. Try to find out what the real problem is, if he solves that one, then he will find what makes him happy.
