I grew up in an environment that would see at least one major hurricane or more within a year’s period. One year I went through three. While definitely uncomfortable, after some strict enforcement of building codes, these hurricanes did not pose the kind of problem they did in the past.
It is possible for New Orleans to survive as a city if they want. There are areas in the world that receive worse weather and the city is able to thrive.
