Interesting, but not the first time we are seeing this. I am in a situation where I have an equity line I can pay off and I’m on the fence about whether to do so or not. The interest rate is 4.775 and I’m afraid that if I pay it off I will be in a similar situation. For now, I have decided to hold tight and not pay it off until the credit squeeze eases a bit. When that happens I’ll likely pay it off and hopefully benefit from the higher credit score having a high untapped line will bring. If things get worse, I’ll have added security of having even more cash in the bank.
Tough times.

stop_the_bubble_hypeParticipantOut of curiosity Tom, why do you think 92009 is overrated? I have my thoughts but interested in hearing your opinion?
also, sd or Tom, any thoughts on how the elevation in prices of homes (resultant picky parents) in LC Greens and LC Ridge may change the face of San Marcos High?
From what I hear, Carlsbad High has similar issues but doesn’t get nearly the negative attention that San Marcos High gets.

stop_the_bubble_hypeParticipantTrojan,
In spite of your name (Bruin for Life Here) I will share my own experience.
My family bought back in October and like you I spent a lot of agonizing hours reviewing this site, looking at posts and waiting for prices to take a dramatic dive. At the time we bought we bought because it was the right thing to do for our family. Have prices come down since we purchased — a little. But we don’t care because the home brings enough satisfaction and we plan to stay for a long while. And guess what, I’m a lot less bitter with the drops than I thought I’d be.
We have made wonderful friends with neighbors and like the stability of having our home again. Sounds like you are pretty set on buying the home so all I can say is buy if you plan to stay put for awhile and don’t get concerned with the fluctuations.
I come to this site about 1x every month or less and take much of what I read with a grain of salt. This is a personal decision. We aren’t looking back and have no regrets. I’m sure my post will get hammered but like I said, I’m not here too often anymore.
Best of luck to you.
