ParticipantAnother trade I like today, at least somewhat:
910 on the S&P500? That’s OVERVALUED, given this economy.
I went 2X short the S&P500 today, with 3% of portfolio. Bought SDS again.
Yes, only 3%; I think the rally has more get-up-and-go left in it, which I plan to dollar-cost-average into.
This time I’m not going chickenshit and close those shorts prematurely, even if the rally goes much higher; I’m going to hold these short positions (and add to them) until we see 650 on the S&P500, even it takes a year.

ParticipantMy pick today?
Oil is back under $41/bbl, yet the oil stocks are still too high. I’m going with good ole black gold, crude oil.I’m buying the ProShares Ultra (2x leverage) crude oil ETF.
Mind you, I’m only buying 3% of portfolio, keeping cash in back pocket for some additional dollar-cost-averaging.You see part of me wonders if the oil pundits are right; maybe oil could go to $30/bbl. If it does I’ll buy LOTS more.
The last time I bought “UCO” was $15/share on Dec 5th; then it ran up to $17.50 in about five days, at which point I dumped it. Now she’s back to $15/share.

ParticipantWow: gold hitting $870/ounce!
And I dumped my gold at $810. Whoops. Who knew the shiny stuff was headed to $900/ounce?
I want my gold stash back, but at that $750/ounce price I paid some weeks ago!

ParticipantI have to agree with posts from The Breeze regarding outlook for home prices, and the foolishness of buying a home now.
My outlook on the real estate market was more optimistic three months ago, but since then the economic data turned sharply down and it looks really ugly at this point.
