Stockstradr, don’t know if you’ll see this, but where did you get the KitchenAid mixer?
It is absolutely true that we could have bought a 325 Watt 5 qt KitchenAid, with multiple accessories, for $85 at Mervyn’s. Only white color was available.
My wife nixed the purchase. Oddly, I was the one who wanted to buy that KitchenAid. It bothered me for weeks that we didn’t buy that at THAT price. We ended up getting another cheap $25 mixer that day.
However, that price came during a fleeting moment. That sale was only during the first half of Black Friday (day after Thanksgiving) and also was possible only because we had been approved for a new Mervyn’s credit card so also another 20% off that day.
Reason wife nixed that purchase is I had already spent $800 in two hours in that store

stockstradrParticipanttemeculaguy,
just wanted to write THANKS, I do appreciate you guys taking time to post these stories with links that show the homes and prices. I like to take a break during lunch and read your reports, and see the photos. Those recent price drops in temecula are incredible.
I remember living in San Diego a year ago and friends would talk about how they bought $700,000 homes in Temeculua and riding in a carpool for over an hour one-way to reach their jobs in San Diego. They would only sleep in, never enjoy, those big houses because they were away from home from 5 AM to 10 PM every day. It really was insanity.

Personally, I took stockstradr’s post to imply that after the Soviets invaded, the CIA was able to pull the Soviets farther into a quagmire by funding the Afghan rebels, not that the CIA and Carter were the reason the Soviets went into Afghanistan in the first place.
Yes, that is EXACTLY what I was implying. Thank you.

stockstradrParticipant>>Obviously, you haven’t visited beijing recently.

My meaning was the OLD Silk Street has been closed. The prices are higher at the new Xiushui Market, which some claim as the New Silk Street.
Now IF you are saying the Old Silk Street is still there, operating, that IS news to me. My understanding is that is has been DEMOLISHED.
There was a really interesting article some time ago in the WSJ about the nasty politics behind the closing of Old Silk Street, and how insiders (who own the new Xiushui Market) made lots of money on the deal.
