SDownerParticipant
Michael Moore manipulates facts to his favor, but healthcare in US needs to be restructured.
America at its worst is far better than some countries at their best.
SDownerParticipantLK, liked ur post.
JG, one of my friends is catholic. I went along with her one day to church and attended mass. I loved it. The singing was spiritually uplifting. I have read parts of old and new testament.
Why is it that when anyone talks about religion, u r all up in arms to defend it? Isnt it always better for a person to listen to the other end of the spectrum and still adhere to their faith based on its merits and not blind, naive belief?
I have always questioned my faith and religion, and always let others question it too. Disparaging someone’s faith is wrong, but healthy discussions need to take place.

SDownerParticipantI understand first hand how financial decisions can be clouded by emotion and peer pressure, but Piggington and its veterans who post have time after time explained that a person can succeed, prosper, and help others if that person has the ability to make “sound” financial decisions. “Sound” pertaining to individual financial situation and values in life. It is very difficult to do so, but can be easily learnt if one tries.
I agree with you that “Religion is an opiate of the masses.” This quote by Karl Marx was mentioned in one of the previous threads.

SDownerParticipantWarning: Post not concerning RE.
This thread is interesting.
I am not christian, but I am very religious. We are a 1 income household out of choice, not necessity. We save by making lots of “sacrifices.” We contribute to charity as much as “we” think is logical. We help anyone whenever we can. We are surrounded by 2 income families, earning and living well.
I was an overachiever, looking at how everybody lived until one point in my life when I received a VERY valuable lesson. I was at the lowest point in my life, physically, emotionally, and financially (at the same time). It was like standing at the precipice and looking down at an abyss. I am young, not yet 30. We got sucked into the bubble, but we do not pass the buck when it comes to the blamegame. I just wish I had not contributed to this “irrational exuberance” due to my ignorance.
This website is RE based and it probably doesnt help a lot when threads deviate into religion or personal choices that are not RE related.

SDownerParticipantIndia was rich in culture and gold before the British decided to plunder it. Yes, the country had its share of problems with fighting in between colonial rulers. India became a republic and a democratic country due to its charismatic leaders who fought for independence.
The only thing India retained from British rule that has been of help is the English language, which the new generation is reaping benefits from.
Any country has its unique problems. Even the US.
jg, read a lot before coming to conclusions. Dont base ur opinions on 1 book or 1 website or 1 propaganda.

SDownerParticipantThere was a total of 6 sales of homes similar to ours in 3 month period (max on market date was 3 months). I was amazed that people are buying. Given a choice, I wouldnt buy right now, but maybe I have become bearish by reading piggington.

SDownerParticipantThe rate hikes adds more pressure to the bubble. It will make it burst faster. The rate hikes make it very difficult for people already stretched out in their 3 and 5 ARMs to refi to 30-year or 15-year or sell during this depreciating scenario, especially the prime borrowers who got sucked into the bubble.
