He obviously doesn’t read the board. I don;t have the data off hand but I have read on this board that SD is losing that amount of residents per year, he’s trying to get you to save his job. People will the data will step up.
SDLaw06ParticipantThere is entirely too much info on this website, I can never keep up with all the posts.
SDLaw06ParticipantThe article is from Washington, I imagine there are lots of places across the country where it still maked better sense to buy than rent, just not in CA.
SDLaw06ParticipantShe said they are 98% full, lots of people coming from Texas and lots of people are students that their parents are paying for the rent, and an abnormally high number are people who have sold their house and decided to rent or people that were in a rental home who were told they would no longer be rented to so the home could be sold.
SDLaw06ParticipantI’ll ask her tonight, should be interesting.
SDLaw06ParticipantMy wife works in property management for one of the big apartment companies in the US and even she is amazed on how much their rental prices have gone up recently. They determine prices based on a supply and demand computer system that changes hourly. OK, I just realized how profound that is, supply and demand price setting, but you know what I mean.

Buffet does it because there is more growth potential in a developing country as opposed to the US which has limited growth. China is doing it so some day the can cause the American dollar to plummet when they decide they want all the money they have bought up.

However, I believe I read ( I can’t find it anymore) they are doing this more for their economy’s sake than for any adverse effect on the US.
SDLaw06ParticipantGod help a meltdown, we would all be in a world of hurt, even the ones in good shape now.
SDLaw06ParticipantThanks for the advice everyone, I’ll keep watching the market and saving for a down payment, even if I don’t need one with the VA loan.
SDLaw06ParticipantI just feel like i’m throwing money away renting, but I guess I would be doing the same thing with a depreciating home.
SDLaw06ParticipantThanks SD Realtor, I have read your tips for buyers. It was great info!!!
I just graduated law school, taking the bar in a week, so I have time to wait for at least 6 more months before we are even close to ready to buy. I’m just trying to get as much research done as possible so I’m as educated as I can be about the market.
