not really dissing temecula. The comps were higher than expected. That’s saying something good about temecula. true denigration woulda been, shoot, it’s costing me money to get out of this craptown.
I have a feeling the poster is going to miss temecula.
Sure, there’s no place like home, but home is often overrated. You go back home and think, ack, what the hell am I doing here. home sucks! that’s why we leave home in the first place. we are sick of home!
Whereas here, in temecula, you’re not home, but you think, clean air, space, decent enough people, natural beauty…
we were down in san diego this weekend and I was thinking, san diego kinda sucks in many ways. just looking around. gritty and gross…no disrespect, Imean but people’s houses are hanging over major thoroughfares. it just seems sort of desperate, crowded, packed and too much. but that’s justa highly subjective viewpoitn of one dude at one distinct moment of life.
As the OP, I must say: I feel not even an ounce of defensiveness that you don’t like some aspects of San Diego. That’s cool, plenty of people don’t like SD.
Whereas when I posted that I want to move back home to San Diego- Paramount FREAKED OUT and took the entire post as a personal attack.Everyone has their own preferences.
I am confident in my adoration of San Diego.
I am a native San Diegan and it feels like home. If somebody posts they don’t like San Diego, more power to them!
I think Paramount needs counseling for his deep-seated insecurities regarding his living situation.
To jump on someone’s post for days to defend Temecula… then to find out that for YEARS he was going on endless rants on this site about hating life in Temecula…It makes you hope he finds the professional help he needs.SDHopesParticipant

Waikiki, Honolulu is great. LUCKY!
SDHopesParticipant

Update:
Thanks for all the advice!
We got great news from our realtor this morning about comps in our area. Way higher than we expected!
Going to be listing this week.
So happy to get out of Temecula and back to San Diego where we belong!
Glad to hear you’re leaving….
Thanks! Taking our money and running back to San Diego! There’s no place like home, there’s no place like home….
SDHopesParticipant

As the OP of the Temecula thread,
I can tell you that we didn’t move to Temecula for the size of the house. In fact, we are a family of four and have happily lived in small apartments just as well as large homes.
What my family has learned living in both situations is this:
Extra space is great for storage (all that baby gear) and play areas. A yard is great to have as well once your little one is older. However, nothing beats the great outdoors. Even if you have the biggest house- your kids will still want to go to the park with their friends. You can live in a small apartment and provided there is park access (maybe even a pool or the beach nearby) then you are going to be just fine.Hope this helps!
Thanks! Don’t get me started on the baby gear…that stuff is crazy. I mean…a wipe warmer? that stuff has gotten out of hand. I definitely agree with the outdoors. I grew up in a rural area and loved shooting bb guns and hiking around. I can’t wait to get my kid a red ryder….well I can wait a little bit. ha!
Yes, it seems that for most people their best childhood memories are outdoors. No mention of house size.

SDHopesParticipantThank you for the advice so far!
SDHopesParticipant
I’m part of Temecula, sort of, and I’m not insulted, not even 3 nanograms, even though I do suffer from Temecula pride. I love the city of temecula, but can understand why others might feel it sucks so bad.
Regret may be totally unrelated to temecula, even. COuld simply be you turned a certain age,, or the feng shui of the house is wrong, or heck, maybe because you hadn’t met me. I regret lots of things and the basis of those regrets may have connections to other things i couldnt even begin to understand.
your reality (and even my reality) does not affect the virtues or vices (assumign something like a virtue even has an independent existence of our realities) of the city of temecula.
that said, maybe it’s not you–maybe it’s us…is there anything temecula can do to cheer you up? Maybe i can rally temecula. maybe we could try harder. is it a zoning issue? or just a vibe?
Thank you so much for your post, put a smile on my face! You are like the countless other nice people we have met while we have been living here- funny and kind. We have made some great friends here. Paramount seems to be the exception to the rule. There is nothing wrong with Temecula, just not for us. Like another poster said, we truly should have rented here first.

I love visiting my family in Temecula and it suits them fine, but I also always enjoy returning home to Encinitas and feel very fortunate to love where I live. It’s expensive because it’s desireable and worth it in my opinion, but not everyone’s which is fine by me. Good luck with everything!
Encinitas is an incredible place. You are very fortunate to live there.
SDHopesParticipant
SDHopes, from the info in your post, I can tell that you bought in Harveston, and the part of Harveston that is not close-by to the lake. While commute to North County to Temecula is generally not that good, the commute to Harveston is terrible because it is closer to the 15/215 intersection.
So the lesson I can draw from your case is that you should rent in a neighborhood before you buy. You are saved by your perfect timing, so either sell it now or hold it on for another year doesn’t look so bad. There are enough demands for rental in Harveston because that is the part of town that people generally want to live in (unlike some other part of town in Temecula Valley). So either way, you should be fine, there is nothing to worry about.
You are right- we should have rented before we bought. We regret not doing that and will never make this mistake again. Thankfully the area we bought in is the fastest selling area of Temecula at the moment. So it’s just a matter of listing it now or listing in a year. It’s been helpful to reach out to the Piggington experts on here for their input. Thank you.

You have every right to feel however you feel about a certain geographic location for whatever reasons you may have.
Wow, thank you. My wife and I just read this together and it touched us. We definitely learned our lesson and will not make the same mistake again. We are going to be more patient with the San Diego housing market the next time around. Have a great night!
Wow, the insults just keep coming. Yes, you have every right to feel and express yourself, but so do others.
Don’t be surprised that when you insult an entire city of 125,000+ people – either passively or actively – that they might take issue with your insults – as I do.
Call me a hypocrite if you must, but then again my time in Temecula is measured in decades, not months.
I hope one day you will feel secure enough in your living situation in Temecula that you don’t feel the need to jump on other’s posts who feel differently than you. Everyone is different in this world and that should not be perceived as threating.
We miss San Diego though we know others may not feel the same. If someone were to post that they regret a home purchase there, we would NEVER jump on their post to say the things you have said on ours. We fully understand that everyone has their own preferences.
May you one day find peace and acceptance of other’s views without impulses towards defensive anger.SDHopesParticipant

To the OP:

I don’t think the OP is trying to insult the whole city. They moved there, and for whatever reason, have come to the conclusion it isn’t a good fit. That happens, it isn’t personal.
Plenty of Californians try out Vegas and after a few months to a few years, end up returning. I seriously doubt the rest of Vegas are looking at that as a personal rejection.
Different strokes for different folks, right?
Thank you for trying to explain to Paramount. Sadly, I don’t think he will listen to your sound reasoning.SDHopesParticipant
To the OP:

I’m sure you are young, and, now that you know what you want, and what you don’t want, you’ll recover in time, and all of this will be but a distant memory.
Good Luck!
Wow.
Come on people, let’s keep it real.
Temecula ain’t that bad, and San Diego ain’t that great.
Temecula: So Cal weather, Texas prices.
Paramount,
What made you change your tune?
