That is just a remarkably stupid thing to say. Just because people in the market make decisions different from what you would make doesn’t make it a failure. Find your inner Buddist. There is no failure or success in the market. It just is.

Sometimes teaching or coaching something you know very well can be very rewarding. And, unlike other hobbies, generates revenue instead of burning through funds.

Seems like not only are the numbers different from Rich’s numbers, but they are not comparing year-to-year numbers for each market.
Some markets are July to current while other markets are July-to-current or Aug-to-current. Also, it isn’t clear if the latest values are from April 2011, Feb 2011, Mar 2011 ???
Prices have come down since July, but seasonal effects make this happen anyway between Summer and Spring.
