ParticipantYes – they are looking for water.
When I was in college, I had the perfect ant solution.
We put past-due meat and water outside the back door. They never came in after that. Yes, we had ants. but not in the house. The ants were happy. We were happy. Not sure if my wife would be able to live w/ this solution as readily as my roomates.

ParticipantI’ll also second the meat at Costco.
In decresing order, meats are graded
Prime
Choice
Select
Some lower rating like “standard” or something – I forget.I don’t remember if regular grocery stores sell select or something lower.
Costco, though sells Choice-graded meat and the price is good.
I’ll try that place on Diane – that’s really close to home for me.
I think FLU’s family must own a competing Chinese market. :O

ParticipantSpicy City went through an ownership change a few months ago. Now called Spicy City Sezuan or something like that. Not worth going back. It was very good before.
Who does a good fish fillet in spicy black bean sauce?
It was the best at Spicy City, now Sam Woo is the only substitute I know.Spices Thai is really nice.
I’ll second Tofu House. Great Soon.
Make sure you go to the Tofu house on the west side of Convoy, not the Tofu Houseon the east side. I ate there once to compare and it was flavorless. For $3.50 I’ll continue to eat at Sam Woo’s take-out counter.

Participant“Good Chinese Buffet” – definitely an oxymoron.
Try Sam Woo in the back of Ranch 99 market.
They sell huge portions of B-grade food at the counter for $3.50. I mean huge – enough for 2. If I were homeless, I’d eat there every day and write a book “San Diego on $3.50 a day.” The book would be 1-page long and say “Eat at Sam Woo.”The sit-down food is quite good but pricier than the take-out.
