ParticipantI agree, they don’t necessarily correlate, but when the market went bad, it took lots of stuff with it for a few weeks.

ParticipantTell me if this sounds crazy.
I’m expecting some badness next year in the stock market, maybe as late as Fall 2010, as we head back into recession.
In 2008, as the market tanked, gold came down hard with the market for a while, but recovered early. With the pain of the market dropping, margin calls and such, supposedly people were selling gold to cover losses in other areas.
I think the same will happen in late 2010. Gold will plod along until then, drop with the next negative stock market event, creating a buying opportunity, then continue upward.
I wouldn’t say it is in a bubble, but I’m not sure it is going to continue steadily upward for much longer.
This is a SWAG, not a researched opinion.

ParticipantDixieline basically screwed this up. They actually covered the cost of the replacement so this was a free window to me.
They told me this would pass the ingress/egress inspection, but the inspector measured the opening and it was too narrow. There was no other door or window in the room so I had to take this out and get a new one.
So, if you use this and it gets inspected, make sure there is another door or window in the room that passes the ingress/egress size requirement.
If you don’t get it inspected, just know it is an 18″ opening instead of 20″ opening. Only a very fat person would be unable to get out of this window.

ParticipantHere is an idea for you. Sometimes we do a progressive night out where we have drinks and appetizer in one place, a main course in another, and dessert in a third.
Find three places within walking distance and you are set. Possible in Downtown, PB, Ja Jolla, Mission Valley. This is good with kids because they don’t have to stay in one place for a long time and you get to sample.
Extraordinary Desserts, is, of course, a good ending, but you can go as simple as baskin robbins. If you do that for dessert, maybe hit Karl Straus for appetizers, and somewhere in little Italy for main course.
The tapas places downtown – Ole Madrid is one – could be good with a kid. They are sort of loud and bustly and you can get a wide variety of things.
