ParticipantWhat about renting the million dollar home she wants until you have enough time to research areas you would like to live in and the market. At that time, prices will fall a little more and maybe you can afford the home of her dreams (it’ll just be a few hundred thousand less).

ParticipantBobbyD,
Would you mind sharing some details on your purchase, out of curiousity? You can email me at [email protected].robyns_song
ParticipantAnd speaking of fees…some of the houses have 2 HOA fees! Yikes!

ParticipantI’m not sure when you went to Evergreen, but as of 9/15, there were three houses (perhaps they fell out of escrow??). 17203 Golden Wagon Ct. was listed at $842,990, 10448 Richard Rd was $722,990, and 17245 Golden Wagon Ct. was $898,990. I’d be really surprised to see that these sold in one day…or maybe the sales lady/flyer were out of date…

ParticipantWe went yesterday and the place was a desert (so no free cookies). I didn’t ask about their next phase release, but looking at their price sheet, I don’t believe they have released the next phase yet. The Explorer (up to 2,691 sq ft) was sold out, the Surfer (up to 3,213 sq ft) priced from $747,328, and the Dreamer (up to 3,356 sq ft) priced at $746,079. The price sheet states “homes currently available in phases 2, 3, and 4.”
Along the same lines, what is up with the K.H. homes, Evergreen. We stopped by and they only had 3 homes left. Did they actually sell all of them or are they getting out?
Maybeck was also building like crazy. I can’t imagine very many people buying those homes…they don’t have much of a yard and their layouts were very awkward.

ParticipantDid you try Big Bear or Julian? It depends on how big of a “cabin” or “weekend place” you’re looking for, but there are small towns in those areas which have less expensive housing that San Diego. $150K still won’t buy you much in these areas…

ParticipantMaybe I missed it but what does “write-down” mean?

ParticipantNice pick, Rube. I like how the attached RV garage is taller (and possibly has more cubic space) than the house. It screams “I need to get away”

ParticipantWe asked the sales people when they thought the model homes would be released to the buyer to move in and they said in about a year and a half. So I assume that’s their new projected completion date.
I also noted that the sales flyer said the homes from phase II came with pre-selected options. Since the homes in phase III were already sold/being sold, either the homes in phase II were not the “popular” models or they fell out of escrow.
