EconProf’s post is however consistent with his political beliefs. That’s more that can be said for other posters who wag their fingers at government intervention, but when housing is concerned, government intervention works. So no worries, you can buy a house; everything will be fine.I don’t believe that Prof Piggington (Rich Toscano) and EconProf are one and the same.
I’m not sure how to parse this… are you suggesting that I approve of government intervention in the housing market? Because that would be a pretty wacky take on what I’ve actually written…

Rich ToscanoKeymaster
isn’t it impossible to spearate out housing prices and politics? It seems like an intrinsically political discussion.
Certain aspects of policy, maybe… the tedious left vs. right pissing contests, no.

We have conservatives here who like to argue the government f—- everything it touches.
But when it comes to propping up housing prices? Surprise!! Government action works!!!
I allow political discussion (and any discussion, really) in the OT forums, but threadjacking a non-political post and trying to turn it political is not allowed. If anyone wants to continue the political aspect of this discussion, please start a new thread.
Thanks,
Rich

Rich ToscanoKeymaster
I see a big market for dog-sized elephants, too. Always have. Uncanny how this guy and I think alike.
I agree completely, but even the elephants won’t be as popular as the multi-ton cockroach vehicles. I mean, why would you want to ride inside a car, when you could ride on top of a gigantic, omnivorous, disease-carrying insect?
I like the line of thinking. Maybe they can also make giant maggots that we can ride around like the sandworms in Dune. Or human sized, hyperintelligent earwigs to be our au pairs.
It’s funny, I used to think of biotech in terms of curing disease. But I was all wrong. We need to focus on the creation of enormous, revolting insect-hybrid monstrosities to serve as our transportation and, eventually, our overlords.
