Felt it real good here in Riverside. Intense swaying for at least 10-15 seconds. I would say this one generated emotions that moved quickly from excitement to minor fear.

profhoffParticipantWe got Zodiaq (DuPont’s brand of quartz). Ceasarstone is another brand of same. Pretty sure that Silestone is also a brand of quartz.
I have done two kitchen remodels and in both we went for the quartz. In my opinion, it is more high end looking than the granite (which seems so dated and “bubble-ish from the last decade).
The quartz comes in beautiful subtle patterns and colors. Everyone who has seen it marvels at its natural modern elegance and wonders what it is. It’s super easy to maintain and the price points are really similar.
Anyway, something to think about in terms of kitchen updates.
I also like concrete but it was too expensive.

profhoffParticipantIf you are planning on doing all that without a GC, I hope you don’t have a full time job.

profhoffParticipantThanks, yeah, I’ve followed the links on the lawsuits. I think a carport would work if there were two spots. An undergraduate student complex isn’t ideal because of the noise. My guaranteed renter is a studious science grad student.
I found some that looked interesting (e.g. Regents) but the reviews were terrible. Another one looked nice – La Jolla City Club and Capri (Renaissance) looks nice too. But that is too expensive.
I’m getting worried that prices are going to start stabilizing. I’ve noticed in some listings that are still for sale that price changes are going up. Wrong direction.
